How do you charge?

The traditional model of “Time & materials” – still favoured by many consultancies – is generally recognized as flawed by most clients, as it doesn’t usually factor in performance or results.
Therefore, Q4 Solutions prefers to use a charging system based on “Deliverables” that clearly outlines which events, outcomes or deadlines will trigger payment(s). However, clients should also be aware that, under this system, there are often certain elements that are the major (and in some cases the sole) responsibility of the client.
For this reason, Q4 also prefers to draw up a “Performance Agreement” with clients at the beginning of projects that clearly defines:
• where responsibility lies for key elements (whether shared or otherwise);
• the agreed set of deliverables for the project;
• the payment(s) to be made upon successful delivery of each element;
• the payment terms and conditions; and
• key contacts
Experience shows that this is an extremely efficient way of establishing the project parameters, and avoids wasting valuable time later in the project due to unnecessary misunderstandings. Where appropriate, we will also look to value share with our clients also, sharing in greater rewards through the sharing of some of the risk.
